Chrysanthemums on the way

Wowsers! The spring has definitely hit the ground running and I totally forgot about my monthly update! Sorry everyone, I will do better next time.

So what has been happening? Well, we have a whole heap of new plants to introduce to you all and I am hoping that there will be much more to come. Over the month of September I have sowed Cosmos, Zinnias, Antirrhinum and other summer annuals. They are all doing extremely well and I can’t wait to get them all transferred into their home in the ground. I am waiting for the major frosts to go away so I can have a big plant out day. At the moment the weather is not playing ball but we shall see in a couple of weeks.

If any of you are following my Instagram @alpine_blooms_farm you would have noticed that the first buckets of flowers started to go out and reach local florists. I am so excited to see my blooms displayed in Wanaka and Queenstown. Florists if you need a bucket of something please email me or fill in a contact form on the website and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.

Tulips and daffodils have been dominating this month with heaps more tulips to come in October, however they seem to be selling out fast so please get your orders in. Daffodils are all about to finish for the season and I am glad to report that I will have much more next year. Most of the varieties I had this year were trial and did not have the numbers for big events however I will be planting more next year and I can’t wait to share them all with you.

Next on the list are Ranunculus and Anemones with first Anemones flowering right now. I am working on their stem length and will hopefully have some good news for everyone soon enough.

And finally we had a big delivery of Chrysanthemums on the farm. These beauties are not going to be available till autumn but I am looking forward to seeing how they all will turn out. The following varieties will be available from early autumn:

  • Flossy
  • Cream Patricia Miller
  • Kay Woolman
  • Green pompom
  • Green spider
  • Lemon Yellow
  • Florist Mauve
  • Xenia Noelle
  • Chiffon Pink
  • Pink John Wingfield
  • Diana Stoakes
  • Orange bicolour -decorative

So keep your eyes out for these beauties and many more to come! Thanks for reading and keep yourselves updated with all the blooms on my Instagram. See you later flower lovers.
